This week we introduce to you Nadene Lidington, one of our founding members of the Cheltenham Wellbeing Festival and founder, Chiropractor and Clinic Director of Tivoli Chiropractic Clinic who shares a little insight into her work and life, and the things she loves about living and working as a Chiropractor in Cheltenham.
1. Tell us in a nutshell about who you are, what your business is and what you offer.
Hi! I am Nadene Lidington. I am a Chiropractor and Clinic Director at Tivoli Chiropractic Clinic. We are a multidisciplinary musculoskeletal clinic in Tivoli, offering Chiropractic, Physiotherapy, Sports massage, Pilates and Shockwave therapy.
2. What is the one thing you love most about your job?
The variety and investigative nature of the job. No 2 patients are ever the same and I enjoy the challenge of piecing together the puzzle of why they are in pain and figuring out how to solve the problem.
3. How did you get into the sector and why?
I have felt the benefits of Chiropractic from a young age. My parents would regularly have treatment to keep them moving and able to cope with the stresses that their busy lives put on them. I have always been active and used to play lots of different sports as a child so the potential for injury was always there. My childhood chiropractor would always help me out and keep me playing the sports I love. I even ended up working with her when I qualified as a chiropractor!
4. What has been your biggest challenge?
Changing perceptions of Chiropractic! A lot of people believe that Chiropractic is just a crack your back and push you out the door sort of therapy. I want to show people that not all Chiropractor's are like that. At Tivoli Chiropractic Clinic we take our time to fully understand and evaluate a patient's problem and we aim to treat not only any skeletal or neurological issues but also working on the muscular system and giving rehab and lifestyle advice in order to help our patients with every aspect of their life that could have an impact on their pain/injury.
5. What is the most memorable comment/compliment you've received from a patient?
I can't think of any one particular comment, but a common theme is that our patients feel well and truly cared for. We have been so happy to receive an ever growing number of 5* Google Reviews where our patients have said some amazing things about the service we provide. It is always lovely to read how we are able to help them and the positive effects it can have on their lives.
6. What inspires you?
I have experienced injuries and pain myself from sciatica to tearing my ACL playing Netball in 2019. The hardest thing about being in pain or being injured is that it stops you from doing the things you love and the things that keep you sane. I love to go running, cycling and walking our dog, Kali, in the woods and hills around Cheltenham and I would be so upset if I couldn't do that. Everyday I see people who are stopped from doing the things they love or are getting down or upset because of their pain and I want to help them break free of this so they can enjoy the things they love most in their life!
7. What do you love about working in Cheltenham and Gloucestershire?
Being within walking distance of The Find and Baker & Graze! All of the exercise is so we can eat their cakes and amazing food! I also LOVE being able to get onto Cleeve Hill and walk the dog, clear my head, take in some fresh air and the amazing view. We live in a beautiful area and it is so important to get out and enjoy it.
8. The best words to describe me are...
Kind, caring, fun. It can't all be too serious and I love having a laugh and a giggle too!
9. Something you would never guess about me...
I have only recently been able to touch my toes! I have always had very tight hamstrings and until I started doing yoga, I was about as flexible as a surfboard.
10. I couldn't get through my day without...
My partner, JJ. He does all of the cooking!
